Nasma Ashraf, Project Coordinator

As a project coordinator at the Health Commons Solutions Lab, Nasma brings an assets-based community-driven health promotion lens to her work at the Lab. She draws from her educational background in Sociology and Health Studies at the University of Toronto. Nasma has over five years of experience working at community health centres, as well as with non-profit organizations across Toronto who engage in community-based social justice work. Nasma’s professional and educational background is deeply rooted in her commitment to using bottom-up, collaborative approaches to address social and political barriers faced by immigrant and racialized communities. To diversify to her skillset, Nasma is currently doing a Masters of Public Health with a focus in Health Policy, at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, at the University of Toronto. She hopes to tie together her passion for community-driven work, as well as interest in policy-level change to advocate for the health of racialized communities.
