Sonia (she/her) is currently the Director of Projects and Partnerships with Health Commons (after spending 4 years in the role of Senior Project Lead). Previously managing a national community-based research centre and research funding programs emphasizing impact-focused research, she enjoys creating a space where people who are passionate about health equity can bring their ideas to life.

Working as a statistical analyst for territorial and provincial governments, Sonia honed an appreciation for quantitative research methods, and now practices multi-method ways of understanding community needs and designing system change that can be operationalized in the real world.

A love of learning has led to the completion of an Honours Bachelor of Science (Biological Anthropology), Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) and Master of Applied Health Services Research degree, including a thesis mobilizing qualitative research methods to synthesize knowledge across sectors in search of transdisciplinary understanding.
